Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Untangle ("we", "our", or "us")
collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Untangle
mobile application.
Information we collect
-
Voice recordings. When you record a voice note,
the audio is uploaded to our cloud storage so it can be
transcribed and processed. Audio files are deleted once
processing completes.
-
Transcripts and action plans. The text
transcript and structured plan we generate from your voice note
are stored in your account so you can revisit them in History.
-
Account information. When you sign in, we store
your email address (or an opaque identifier from Google or
Apple) and a numeric credit balance.
-
Usage analytics. We collect anonymized analytics
events (e.g. "voice note processed", "permission granted") to
improve the product. These do not contain transcript content.
-
Crash reports. If the app crashes, we receive
a stack trace and basic device information (OS version, model)
so we can fix the bug.
How we use your information
- To transcribe and process your voice notes into action plans.
- To show you your history and let you revisit past plans.
- To send reminder notifications you've scheduled.
- To diagnose problems and improve product quality.
Third-party services
We use the following processors to deliver Untangle's core
functionality:
-
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore,
Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Crashlytics, Analytics, App Check)
-
OpenAI (Whisper for transcription). Audio is
sent to OpenAI's API for transcription and is not retained for
training per OpenAI's API data usage policy.
-
Anthropic (Claude for action plan extraction).
Transcripts are sent to Anthropic's API and are not retained for
training per Anthropic's API data usage policy.
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy. We
recommend reviewing them.
Data retention
-
Audio files are deleted shortly after
transcription. We do not retain the raw audio long-term.
-
Transcripts and plans remain in your account
until you delete them or delete your account.
-
Analytics events and crash reports are retained
according to Firebase's default retention policies (typically
14 months for analytics).
Deleting your data
You can delete individual voice notes from the History tab.
To delete your entire account and all associated data, open
Settings → Delete account. This is irreversible. Account
deletion removes:
- Your authentication record
- All voice notes, transcripts, and plans
- Any audio files still in storage
- Your credit balance and settings
Analytics events and crash reports tied to your account are
anonymized and may persist according to Firebase retention.
Children
Untangle is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children. If you believe a child
has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can
delete it.

will be communicated in-app.
